Day 14  25/09/34 - Our last day!

Well today is our last day! I have mixed emtions, Happy but sad to leave this beautful place. Its 5:30 now so we have around half an hour before we go! So here is what I have crossed off my list now;
Caroline's Bucket List For Antarctica!
1- See a seal, polar bear and a penguin

2-Have on place named after me

3-See the northern lights

4-Find a new animal
 So I am glad I have nearly everything crossed off. I am not to worried about finding the new animal, that would probably take more than two weeks! Our campsite (Or whats left of it) is very chaotic at the moment, the cook packing away all of her food and equipment, all us crew mwmbers packing up all our belongings and our tents and Klarius getting the boat ready. Everyone is rushing! We went for a quick walk this morning up to the glacier to get a few pictures to show once we get back. I am so excited to arrive at home, in two days! I am going t miss the peace and quiet though! Once I get home i might puplish my diary, I have been thinking about it. I am sort of dreading the long, smelly boat ride back. But thats the only way back! I think the animals are glad we are leaving... I would also like to thank all our crew! You guys are the best! I hope you guys have been enjoying reading my diary! Well, bye forever,

Day 13  25/09/34

I am so sorry i have not been writing! I lost my diary when we moved campsites! I think it fell out of my bag! I went looking for it, finding it peaking out from under some snow. The last week has been very relaxed, surprisingly. Our celebration for our first week was beautiful! We saw the northern lights and they were utterly amazing! another crossed off my list! We did a bit more exploring scince last time I wrote, but not much. We still have not found a new animal, sadly. Moving campsites took up a whole day! A few crew members have already gone back to Norway, for family. But we still got all the work done! Our new campsite is quite nice, By a lake. Tonight we plan to have another leaving celebration, so i hope the weather clears! It rained yesterday, also it hailed! My teny really got a battering. It kept me up last night so I started reading a book that I totally forgot about, It is actually quite good. We have already started packing for tomorrow, so I hope everything goes to plan! I think we are aiming to leave at 6:00 tomorrow moring, a very early start! That means we will probably get home in about two days! Then finally back home! I am going to miss Antarctica, but i am very glad to be arriving home soon. Apparently I am the first woman to go to Antarctica so I am very excited to get the award when we arrive home! I better finish packing so ,Bye for now, I shall write tomorrow

Day Six  18/09/34

 Well this morning i got rudely awoken by my alarm! But luckily we were doing some scientific research today. After breakfast and packing we set off for a long walk, in the freezing cold wind! Luckily we all had our warm jackets. we saw a whole colony of seals, it was really exciting! I think they were Leopard Seals. We also went to the top of the mountain we explored on our first day and put our Norwegian flag! I'll add a photo for you guys. It's coming to the end of our first week in Antarctica, I have got to say it has been AMAZING so far! I honestly am going to miss this freezing cold, untouched land! Tomorrow night we are going to have a small celebration for the end of our first week, the cook is making a three course meal! Lucky us. We also hope to see the Northern Lights, since Klarius seems to thinks it's around the right time of the year, I really hope so! that will be another thing crossed off Caroline's Bucket List For Antarctica!This is what I have crossed off so far;
Caroline's Bucket List For Antarctica!
1- See a seal, polar bear and a penguin
2-Have on place named after me
3-See the northern lights
4-Find a new animal
Sadly I don't think we are going to find a new animal. But I could always do that in the future, well the food storage is calling me, so bye for now

Day Five  17/09/34

As I said yesterday, we are going animal exploring today! I really hope we see a polar bear, we also plan on putting up a Norwegian flag! I hope we do, so i can get a photo. Over the next week we will be doing some scientific research, which a special crew member is helping us with. This morning we got woken up by a pair of seals in our food storage tent! They surprisingly took some bread! I never new seals liked bread! After this we decided to move camping sites, around the other side of the mountain. That's where we found a glacier. The glacier was very interesting! Klarius and his scientific crew explored and examined it for a while, i was left to unpack the lunch. After this we went to see if we could find any polar bears. We found a mother and cubs by a ice hole fishing for seals or fish. The cubs were very cute! Well I must be going, time for Afternoon tea. Bye,

Day Four 16/09/34

The picture above is of Klarius and I next to our campsite. Yes, there are Penguins in the background, so another thing off my Antarctica Bucket List! Today was Amazing! we explored the mountain by our camp site, finding another smaller ranger off to the side, and guess what?! Klarius and I had it named after us! another thing crossed off. We all had an brilliant time, we found alot of new places on and around the moutain, deciding to keep some secret. Our crew is amazing, so helpful and caring. I must buy them a gift after we arrive back in Norway. Last night cleared up so we had dinner outside around a camp fire, It was so peaceful and the land is pretty much untouched so i got a few good picture. One of our crew members sung a few songs, me joining in. I honestly don't want to leave! I shall write tomorrow when we go animal exploring!I hope to see a polar bear for the first time!
 good night,

My Diary- Day Three

Day Three 15/09/34

Its around dinner time right now, but today we set up our camp (our home for the next two weeks) its near a mountian to keep us sheltered from the icy cold wind. I have my own tent, which is great so i will get to write alot more than i planned to. The temperature is extremely cold, with a very icy wind. Right now I'm sitting in my tent in my sleeping bag with two long-sleeved shirts and two very warm jerseys! we hope the wind will die down so we can eat dinner outside, then look at the stars. Tomorrow we are going to do a bit of exploring, maybe even get to name some new places, thats the bit i am looking forward too. I like the idea of something being named after me, forever. When we arrived on our ship we saw a massive group of seals! they were amazing. I have never seen any before so I'll get to mark that off my list, Oh speaking of my list here it is:
Caroline's Bucket List For Antarctica!
1- See a seal, polar bear and a penguin
2-Have on place named after me
3-See the northern lights
4-Find a new animal

I hope to get all of them crossed off, well Bye for now

My Diary- Day two

Day Two 14/09/34
Today is our last day on the ship, I'm secretly very glad because the smell is really getting to me. Klarius has been a great captain so we haven't got lost. I'm very glad for that I mean, who wants to be lost in the middle of the icy ocean? It's starting to get very cold so I know we are close to our destination.
 The crew are very friendly and I've made friends with the cook. When we get to Antarctica we plan to go exploring and hope to discover new animals, hopefully. It only stays light for about five hours a day so I won't be getting much time to write. Bye,
Caroline Mikkelsen
